EMPLOYING ABORIGINAL PEOPLE - LET'S DO IT
HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?
The NCAP Program funds community - based organisations that know their local networks, understand their regional job market and have a track record of helping people find the training they need or a job that suits them.
An NCAP organisation individually interviews and assesses Aboriginal clients who want to enter the workforce or improve their job circumstances.
If the client's skills need to be upgraded, the organisation will arrange training. For clients who are job ready, the role of the NCAP program is to match the client's skills and background to local job opportunities.
After a successful placement, the NCAP placement officer can maintain contact with the client to make sure the arrangement is working well.
THE NCAP PROGRAM OFFERS:
- Knowledgeable links with local communities and organisations;
- Access to the NCAP network across NSW;
- Links to the training services of the NSW Department of Education and Training;
- A short list of people with skills and background to fill a vacancy
This innovative and exciting program assists Aboriginal people to access education and training pathways which address their individual needs, and enhance their prospects of permanent employment.
NCAP's objective is to increase the participation of Aboriginal people in the labour market: by identifying, creating and supporting sustainable education, training and employment opportunities at the local level.
NCAP targets individual Aboriginal people who wish to either find work, or improve their current job situation through tailored individual support.
